After reading Sidney Bell’s first book, Bad Judgement, I was definitely on the lookout for another. I enjoyed it so much. This new one is a contemporary about 2nd chances and redemption and is an absolute treat.
Church is out of incarceration and trying hard to turn over a new leaf, and returns to his old friend Miller. While Miller knows Church is gay, Miller himself is pretty conflicted about his sexuality. Cue much angst. This is a slow burn, which is my favorite kind of writing times a million and this author just aces the tension. So. Good. This was a different kind of book from her first novel. That was big business and grand in scale, this felt more contained and almost small town. Even though it is set in a city. Clever writing.
Loved it. I am totally waiting with baited breath for the next book in the series. Definitely another favorite for 2017.
