Victor Bayne’s job as a PsyCop involves tracking down dead people and getting them to spill their guts about their final moments. It’s never been fun, per se. But it’s not usually this annoying.Vic has just moved in with his boyfriend Jacob, he can’t figure out where anything’s packed, and his co-worker is pressuring him to have a housewarming party. Can’t a guy catch a break?
On a more sinister note, Vic discovers there’s absolutely no trace of him online. No trace of anyone else who trained at “Camp Hell,” either. Everyone Vic knows has signed a mysterious set of papers to ensure his “privacy.” The contracts are so confidential that even Vic has never heard of them. But Jacob might have. What other secrets has Jacob been keeping? Click below the cut for more, possible spoilers…
I stayed up rather late reading this last night! It was a fab read. Again, I felt the beginning was a little choppy but it soon smoothes out and I really got drawn into Vic’s world.
Vic is such a cool character. He is such a bundle of insecurity and he can be just a little self absorbed. He is having a wee bit of a freak out at moving in with Jacob but he does not seem conscious of this. He just does odd things like wonder what Crash would be like in the sack, spends too long looking at him and gets antsy about getting rid of furniture. It was the whole feeling of being in a committed relationship and what that entailed that had him suffering from a wandering eye. Then there is Jacobs odd behaviour and coming in late. What Vic often fails to see is how much Jacob feels for him *le sigh* but he just has a hard time opening himself up to someone after being alone for so long. As a result there are a few misunderstandings and some seriously hot smexin…like had to turn down the fire in the lounge hot. Jordan, you legend!
It was so cool to have Lisa back for a cameo appearance as I really dig her character. She’s also having a wee moment dealing with the si-no and finding the training hard going. Her and Vic team up again to solve the mysterious attack on an older woman in a rest home. Vic is gaining more insight into his capabilities but the mysterious fact that he feels like there is someone watching him in the wings is beginning to bug him. Jordan spends a bit of time doing set up stuff for the next book or so, but it did not detract from the story. For me the mystery was a little tighter this time and I was so totally satisfied by the ending. Fab reading and I am really looking forward to the next one.
Get the goodness here!
